prayer for peace of mind

Finding God's Peace

Finding God's peace is a never ending process of receiving. We cannot collect what we need for a week or a day or even an hour. Only in the moment can we choose to receive it. How?
Celtic Circle
We begin by acknowledging that Jesus is Lord, that we live in grace and that eternity awaits us. The enemies of peace are fear, shame and pain. All of these are dissolved by the redemptive Christ and his love. Even when we ask for this peace and don't feel it - it is there underpinning the whole of our being. Like a safety net beneath us, this peace that surpasses all understanding is a constant. It does not change, it cannot fail. It is wider and deeper than we can ever imagine.

Prayer for Peace and Healing

I meditate on you O Lord.
For you have borne the pain,
You have lived the trauma,
You have tasted shame.

I meditate on you O Lord.
For you have beaten death,
You have covered everything
With gentle loving breath.

I meditate on you O Lord.
For you're the promise bright,
You're the hope of healing hands,
You're the brightest light.

I meditate on you O Lord.
Come meet me in my fears,
Touch me with your wings of love,
And lift my heart of tears.

I meditate on you O Lord.
My saviour and my friend,
My comforter, my one and all,
On you I will depend.

Prayer for Peace and Comfort

Lord God,

You promise the peace of a still lake
Even in the midst of a storm.
You promise the peace of a slumbering child
Even in the middle of tension and disagreement.
You promise the peace of a poppy field
Even in the place of heartbreak and devastation.
Your promise is a peace that surpasses our human understanding.
So I choose to rest by the still waters, to lie down and rest amongst the poppies.
Your resurrection declared peace over trauma, power over death, and life everlasting.

I trust in you.

Prayer For Peace Of Mind

(the prayer poem in the film above)

Lead me to your still streams O Lord
Where I can kneel in the waters of life
Lay down my anxious thoughts
And cast all my cares on You

Here I will wait a while
Wait a while
And bathe in the life-giving waters

Bathe my mind in Your Spirit O God
Come fill my being with Your peace

Bathe my heart with Your love O God
Come still my being with Your peace

Bathe my spirit with Your freedom O God
Come saturate this life with Your peace

Dwell at Christmas

Dwell album cover from Prayerscapes

In this season of giving, it is hard sometimes to cut through the commercial trappings, rise above the “perfect Christmas” expectations and truly connect with loved ones to give a gift that is really yearned for. We (like most creatives) sometimes find it hard to “push” our own work, to believe that our music can Read More

A Beautiful Prayer

Beautiful Tree Branches hanging low down

I think one of our deepest longings as humans is to know that there is a purpose for our lives, that we have a role to play in this world. Thankfully as Christians we can be certain that life isn’t just a random series of events. God the creator of the earth and the heavens Read More

An Ancient Celtic Blessing

hand in sunlight

“May the Road Rise Up To Meet You” is a beautiful old Celtic blessing. Blessings are a gift and ancient ones like these help us to become open channels for the fragrance of Christ to surround those we give out to. I love the references to creation – the sun, the wind, the rain – Read More
